At Westwood, one of our values is EXPERIENCES and our aim is to provide children with memorable and cultural experiences to expand their understanding of the wider world.
We believe EXPERIENCES are important as:
-Social justice requires that we provide an education which gives the less privileged access to the knowledge and experiences they need to succeed.
-They ensure all our children have the same opportunities and experiences regardless of their social class.
-It places our learning in real life contexts and provides reference points for children to build their learning upon using the local area to support learning.
-It allows our Westwood community to feel part of something bigger and leave a legacy behind.
Staff worked hard to ensure a range of experiences are planned carefully into each academic year. These include use of the local area, visitors to school, experiences off site, practical learning within school, musical and extra curricular opportunities, performances. We also have strong links with our local cluster including 20Twenty Productions.
