You have had an offer of a place in Reception at Westwood Primary School for September 2026.
What next?
Welcome to Westwood Primary School.
Firstly, if you have been offered a place in Reception please ensure you either confirm this via Cambridgeshire Admissions or contact the school office directly (01354 653033) to accept the place.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you and your child to Westwood Primary School. We realise that this is both an exciting and daunting time. This is why we have carefully planned lots of events to ensure your child's smooth transition to school in September. Alongside this, we will be working closely with pre-schools, nurseries and childminders to gather further information and of course yourselves before your child starts school.
As part of our transition programme, we have the following events planned. In the next few weeks, you will receive further information and confirmed dates. Please look out for these via email (the email address you used to apply for the school place). If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
New Parent Evening - early June. This is an opportunity to have a look at classrooms, try the school lunch menu and find out important information about your child's start to school. This is a parent/carer only event and we ask that children do not attend.
Stay & Play sessions - June. These are sessions for yourself and your child to attend. It is an opportunity to meet the class teacher, see next year's classroom and complete some learning activities. There will be a few other children who will be in your child's class at these events.
Home Visits - July. Your child's class teacher and a member of the EYFS team will come and see you and your child in your home. This is a chance for you to meet the teacher on a 1:1 basis and for the teacher to build a relationship with your child in their comfort zone at home.
Transition Morning - July. During the transition morning, your child will spend an hour in their new classroom with their teachers and meet some of the other children in their class.
SEND Drop-Ins If your child has additional needs or you have any SEND concerns regarding your child, you can sign up for a SEND drop in appointment with our EYFS SENCO Mrs Grant.
