School Meals

On both our Maple and Oak site, meals are provided by an external organisation, Dolce  who prepare and cook on site.

 A SchoolGrid password will be issued by the school office to enable you to activate your account. Once your account is activated you will be able to pay and pre-order your child/children's meals on a day by day basis or in advance for the week/term. Please note, that the cut off for ordering a school meal on the day is 08:55am.

The cost of a school meal is £2.61 unless your child/children are entitled to free school meals.

Remember, all children in Reception and Years 1 and 2 are entitled to universal free school meals.

Packed Lunch

All pupils in both key stage 1 and key stage 2 may choose to bring a packed lunch to eat.  We do encourage healthy lunches.  No sweets or chocolate please!  Drinks should be brought in a plastic container with a sports lid (not screw top).  The children do have access to drinking water throughout the day.

Uniform

At Westwood we encourage children to wear uniform to support a feeling of belonging and community at our school. Although school branded items are available, these are optional.

General

• Plain white or blue polo shirt or plain white shirt with collar - required

• Plain or branded, navy blue jumper/sweatshirt/cardigan - required (branding is optional)

• Grey or black trousers, skirt or knee-length shorts or blue gingham summer dress - required

• Plain black shoes or trainers (velcro for younger children if possible); no heels or flip-flops - required

Indoor PE

• Plain white T-shirt - required (branding is optional)

• Navy blue or black shorts - required

• Black plimsolls or trainers - required

• Hairband for hair (if long) - required

Outdoor PE

• Plain white T-shirt - required (branding is optional)

• Navy blue or black shorts- required

• Tracksuit top and bottoms (for cold weather)- required

• Change of socks - optional but advised

• Change of trainers (suitable for outdoor wear in all conditions)- optional but advised

• Hairband for hair (if long)- required

Swimming

• Swimming trunks (not Bermudas/boarders) or swimming costume (no bikinis) - required

• Swimming hat (optional)

• Towel - required

All clothing worn in school should be marked with the child's name!

School uniform bearing the Westwood logo can be purchased by visiting the web site Total Clothing Shop.  We no longer stock any school uniform on the school premises.  Parents can of course purchase items from other outlets so long as the school colours are adhered to and the clothing is plain, without logos or other designs.

Second-hand uniform

Westwood has its own free uniform hub to support families with the provision of free second-hand uniform. This includes PE kit, coats and shoes alongside standard uniform. If you would like some items from our uniform hub, please make contact the school office with the clothing required and sizes.

PE Kit

P.E. items are best kept in a drawstring bag with the child’s name on the outside.  P.E. kit should be brought into school every Monday morning and taken home for washing every Friday afternoon.

Jewellery

We strongly recommend that jewellery is not worn at all in school.  Items can be lost, broken or indeed cause injury to the wearer.  Only watches and stud earrings are permitted.  We ask that earrings are removed during P.E.  Smart Watches should be avoided due to their expense if lost but if they must be worn, need to be handed to the school office (as per our Mobile Phone policy).

Hair

As parents ourselves, we completely understand how children wish to keep up with fashions and trends but  hope that anything that is too distracting can wait until school holidays (especially the long summer break) where children are not working together in an class-based environment.  Whilst we are happy to celebrate everyone’s individuality and choice, as we hope you’ll understand and appreciate, we do want children to represent not only their families but also their school.   We also ask for long hair to be tied up if possible - this can help reduce the spread of head-lice.

Make-Up

Make-up is not to be worn in any circumstances.
