We believe Art and Design education should inspire and challenge children whilst providing an opportunity for creativity and self-expression. We strive to give children the chance to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. Thus, giving them a means by which to express themselves, make personal judgements, problem solve and think outside the box. We aim to provide our children with the knowledge and skills to produce artistic pieces as well as giving them opportunities to think critically about art. We strive to support them in reflecting and understanding how art has contributed to the culture, wealth and creativity of our country and the world as a whole. We see our Art curriculum as a vehicle to promote diversity, respect and intercultural understanding which is vitally important in a school of main mono-culture. An appreciation of art will extend the experiences of our children and ensure that both they and families from all countries and cultures feel valued and respected.
