At Westwood, we aim to develop natural curiosity and a sense of excitement about the sciences. We hope that the children have an appreciation for the different scientific disciplines (biology, chemistry and physics) and begin to recognise how science has changed our lives and the world we live in. We endeavour to provide the children with scientific knowledge and understanding that enables them to understand and appreciate scientific phenomena. We strive to provide them with opportunities to engage in age-appropriate scientific experiments. This allows the children to think like scientists and observe and investigate the world around them. Through the science curriculum, we encourage children to explain their scientific understanding, make connections and comparisons between scientific ideas and teachings and investigate and evaluate scientific questions.
