How accessible is our school?

How accessible is the school ?

Our accessibility plan sets out our aims in ensuring that the school is fully accessible in terms of access to the curriculum, to the physical environment and to information for our entire school community.

For many pupils, we adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of the child. This may include the use of different tasks and resources, additional support in class or out of class and specific interventions

Our school is accessible to disabled pupils, all classrooms are on the ground floor and there is disabled access into the main building and individual classrooms. We have corridors wide enough for wheelchair access and disabled toilet facilities on both sites.

What are the admission arrangements for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities?

No child will be refused admission to school on the basis of their SEN, disability, ethnicity or language need. In line with the Equalities Act 2010, we will not discriminate against disabled children and we will use our ‘best endeavours’ to provide effective educational provision

For pupils with an EHCP we will formally consult with Cambridgeshire Local Authority to ensure that we can meet the needs set out in the plan.

Prior to admission our team welcomes the opportunity for parents and children to meet with school staff and tour the school and facilities.

How do we ensure that we prevent disabled pupils from being treated less favourably than other pupils?

We ensure we adhere to the reasonable adjustment duty for disabled pupils – designed to enhance access and participation to the level of non-disabled pupils and stop disabled children being placed at a disadvantage compared to their non-disabled peers.

For further information, please see our Equalities & Diversity Policy for how we meet the requirements of the Equality Act 2010.
