Music Tuition

At Westwood, we have a fantastic choir that commit their time and effort on a weekly basis to practise together. Aside from the seasonal performances at Christmas, our choir has also performed at a wide range of events and venues in the community, including a local social club. Our choir has links with a local arts group ‘20Twenty’ and a particular highlight for our choir is their annual attendance at ‘The Big Sing’ in which they get to perform alongside other local schools and their choirs.

We offer peripatetic music tuition on a variety of instruments including: guitar, ukulele, drums, keyboard, cornet, clarinet and flute. With the exception of keyboard tuition, these lessons are offered to KS2 pupils on a weekly basis in one-to-one sessions. Peripatetic tutors communicate with parents directly regarding fees for the lessons on a termly basis.

National company iRock delivers small ensemble lessons on vocals, guitar, keyboard and drums. These lessons which are led by expert musicians, with years of industry experience are weekly and pupils have the opportunity to take part in a performance at the end of each term. These lessons are currently offered to both KS1 and KS2. These sessions inspire and empower young people, focus on teamwork, confidence, and social skills, boosting mental health and encouraging a love for music. Parents can enrol their children into iRock lessons using the iRock website. Payments for lessons are also made through this site.
