The Siobhan Dowd Book Foundation awarded Westwood pupils £600 to spend on books from an independent bookshop of our choice.  We selected Niche Comics | Books in Huntingdon as they had a beautiful range and kindly agreed to open the shop an hour early for us so we had it all to ourselves!

Fourteen children with high word counts and good to be green behaviour from year 4 and 5 were selected to go alongside Mrs Delaney, Mr Albert (who kindly drove us) and Mrs James.

The children all selected 5 books each, 2 that they’d choose for a KS1 child and 3 they’d like to read themselves.  It was entirely their choice, with the focus being on reading for pleasure.  The children loved the experience of selecting the books and exploring a book shop.  The shop gave us a discount of £1 off each book so we were able to get 75 books in total!   Below you can see a photo of the incredible selection of books that will be going into our library over summer!
